Fun Ways to Document your Baby’s First Year

A baby’s first year is full of so many big and exciting milestones.  There’s that first smile, those first steps, the first time your baby sleeps through the night, and my personal favorite, those sweet monthly photos. Capturing these moments on camera is such a great way to preserve the memories for years to come.

There are so many fun props and unique ways to document all of your baby’s milestones these days. From apps, to stickers and cards, and even chalkboards, that I wanted to share a few of my favorites. These are some great ideas if you’re looking for inspiration on how to best document your child’s milestones!

Belly Stickers

There are a wide variety of stickers out there that provide a simple way to document the months as well as your baby’s first milestones. Some of our favorites are these “My Firsts” belly stickers from Pearhead and these “My First Holiday” stickers from Lucy Darling.

Milestone Cards

These adorable cards from Milestone Baby make amazing props when photographing all of your baby’s firsts.  I love that they offer the option of allowing you to strategically place them in the photo, or to have your baby hold the card themselves. There is also a spot to write in the date on them, which is great for ensuring that you will remember exactly when the memory was captured.

Apps

Everything is digital these days, so why shouldn’t you use an app to document some of your baby’s firsts. This might just be one of the easiest ways to capture those special moments, seeing as most of us use our phones to take photos the majority of time anyway.  My favorite app is this one from Little Nugget Co. It allows you to make an account for each of your children, plus  it includes lots of great filters and fun fonts and sayings to help make your photo special.  You can even print your pictures right from the app.

Chalkboards

Chalkboards are super trendy, and they make for a great photo prop to use in your baby’s monthly photos.  I love this “all about baby” version from Pearhead, because it allows you the opportunity to write in all of your child’s measurements and favorite things each month!

Baby Books

There are so many beautiful options available out there for documenting everything from your pregnancy and throughout your baby’s first year of life. These “Baby’s First Year” memory books are my absolute favorite. They are absolutely gorgeous, and offer a simple and modern way to document all of your baby’s special memories.
