Dinner Thyme | Dinner on the Table In Under 15 Minutes

If you’ve been around for awhile, you know how much I like to cook.  You probably also know that I like to eat even more. I have to be honest with you guys though, lately the inspiration has been lacking. I don’t know if it’s this time of year, or having a baby that doesn’t sleep, or perhaps the combination of both, but I really haven’t felt very motivated to plan out and prepare meals recently. Sometimes I feel like the universe knows just how over it I really am, because this past week I had the amazing pleasure of trying Dinner Thyme. Dinner Thyme is a meal delivery service, that promises to ship you a custom package full of all of the fresh ingredients (along with recipes) that you need, to get a hot and delicious meal on the table in 15 minutes or less. They offer 9 different menu options to choose from each week, including dessert options, and they’re perfect for people who are on-the-go (or mom’s who need a break)!

Guess what? They totally lived up to their promise! Dinner Thyme was exactly the break that I needed from a trip to the store and the thinking involved in feeding my family dinner.

Our meals arrived packed in an insulated box, right on our door step… and upon opening it, I found all of the ingredients prepped, packaged separately, and labeled with letters to help identify which foods went with which meal. Along with the ingredients came a pamphlet full of recipes that simply, but meticulously, explained how to prepare each meal. Each recipe was also marked with a letter to go along with the corresponding ingredients, and I loved that it was clearly noted at the top, exactly how long it would take me to get it on the table. 

As a Mexican food lover, I would have to say that the Citrus Marinated Steak Tacos were my favorite and they couldn’t have been easier to cook and assemble. The marinated beef literally went straight from pouch to pan, and while it cooked, I quickly threw together the fresh pico de gallo. It was a cinch to warm the tortillas, and once the meat was done cooking, I got down to the business of putting the tacos together. I topped the tortillas with the meat, the fresh pico, pre-cut lettuce, shredded cheese, and sour cream. The meal was ready in under 10 minutes, and it was love at first bite!

A close contender was the Chicken Marsala with Garlic Green Beans. This is a meal that I love and I was honestly impressed that thanks to Dinner Thyme, I was able to have in on the table in just 15 minutes. I’m not a seafood person, but my husband is, and I rarely cook it for him. I decided to surprise him with the Crab Cakes and Arugula Salad with Lemon Dressing. My husband is pretty picky about crab cakes, after living in Maryland and eating some of the best around, and he LOVED these ones. Without me even asking, he looked up after his first couple of bites and exclaimed, “these are really good!”. The Chicken Stir-Fry with  Soba Noodles was delightful as well, and it was fun to try something that I might not think to prepare on my own.

Of the meal delivery services that I have gotten to try and review, Dinner Thyme has been my favorite thus far. I liked that their approach was no muss, no fuss, just good food and fresh ingredients that were simple and quick to prepare. They are not like the other services out there, and I appreciate the things that set them apart. Their weekly subscription service is perfect for one person or an entire family. Their meals are a cinch to prepare, they taste amazing, and they encourage you to try new things. Above and beyond all of that, they were the answer to this busy WAHM’s prayers.
