After five years of parenting, I feel like I’ve finally learned the ropes. As a matter of fact, some days I actually feel like I might just have my stuff together. Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of hot-mess disaster days, but thanks to the following modern day luxuries, there are times where I’m totally killing it at this mom gig!
Childcare at the gym– This has literally been the key to my sanity lately. I don’t even care if you go just to read a magazine and sip on your latte in the locker room… if you’re not taking advantage of this luxury, you don’t know what you are missing!
Drive-thru food and/or coffee– If you have kids, then you know full-well how difficult it is to get them in and out of car seats, just to run in somewhere, for food or caffeine (aka mom fuel). The drive-thru, and caffeinated beverages, have been my saving grace ever since I first became a mom!
Amazon Prime– Before kids, shopping was an enjoyable pastime of mine. After kids, a trip to Target sans tiny humans is the equivalent of a spa day for me! Amazon Prime is literally life. I basically order anything and everything via Amazon, and through the magic of modern day technology, it’s on my doorstep in two days or less. I honestly don’t think that I could do life without this luxury at this point.
Grocery delivery/pick up– I don’t know why it took me so long to get on board with this one, but now that I have, I’m never turning back. Ordering our groceries online, and then either simply picking them up while someone else does the dirty work, or having them delivered, makes my life a billion times easier. Not only that, but I find that I even spend less by actually sticking to my list and I get to avoid the repeated “can we get this?” pleas!
Screen time– Here me out on this one. I’m honestly not a big screen time person when it comes to my kids. It’s usually a last resort for us… but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. On occasion, it has been a total life-saver. Trying to finish a meal in a restaurant, and your kids aren’t having it? Put some Netflix on that iPad and chill! Want to get ready in peace? Daniel Tiger it up!
