3 Ways to Stay Hydrated As An On-the-Go Mom

October 3, 2017 by Jessica 2 Comments

I don’t think that it’s any secret that as moms we’re constantly putting ourselves last. I know from experience that sometimes, I get so busy taking care of my family, that often, I forget about myself. One of the things that I am most guilty of, is not making sure that I stay hydrated. In fact, in the past, I was so bad about it, that during my second pregnancy, I actually developed kidney stones. I know… TMI, but seriously, this is one of the reasons that it is so important to always stay hydrated (trust me!!!). After enduring that kind of pain, I vowed to make a valid effort to drink enough every single day. If you’re not staying hydrated, your body can’t perform at its best. Hydration helps to give you energy and keep you healthy. Plus there are so many great ways to stay hydrated these days, that there’s virtually no excuse to be dehydrated.

Here are three ways to help you ensure that as a busy mom on-the-go, you get enough hydration daily…

1. Buy yourself a water bottle that you love– It might sound silly, but I swear, when I have a water bottle that I love, I feel more motivated to use it, and to drink more fluids. So go ahead and treat yourself to a pretty water bottle. Then be sure to always keep it filled up, and carry it with you everywhere you go.

2. Eat more fruits and vegetables- We already know full well that fruits and veggies are full of stuff that is good for us, like vitamins and antioxidants, but did you know they also contain a lot of water? You don’t necessarily have to drink all of your hydration each day, a percentage of your daily water intake comes from the foods that you eat too. I love to throw an apple or some sliced bell peppers in my diaper bag for snacking on-the-run. Not only is it a healthy snack, but it helps me stay hydrated too.

3. Drink coconut water- Did you know that coconut water is SUPER hydrating? Drinking it straight up can be tough though, particularly if you don’t like the flavor. I recently discovered the most amazing alternative… Welch’s 100% juice with coconut water. That’s right, the same Welch’s juice that is made right here in the USA, using grapes grown on family owned farms, is now available with the great benefits of coconut water. These juices naturally contain 30% less sugar, have only 100 calories per serving, and include 2 servings of fruit in every 8 ounce glass. How great is that? It’s available in 2 delicious flavors, White Grape Mango and Tropical Berry Grape, (we found ours at Target!) and I seriously love them both. Thanks to Welch’s, it’s become even easier for me to stay hydrated on-the-go, and I get the added benefits of coconut water! As an added bonus, my kids love it too… and I’m thrilled that it’s lower in sugar, for their sake.

Which great flavor would you choose? White Grape Mango? Or Tropical Berry Grape?
