The Top Three Things You Should ALWAYS Stock Up On When you Have a Baby

December 19, 2017 by Jessica 5 Comments

This post has been sponsored by Walmart, however all of the thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own. As always, thank you for supporting the brands that support Kozy & Co.

If there is one thing that I have learned over the past five years since I became a mom, it’s that there are certain items that you can never have too much of… particularly when you have a baby in the house. This past weekend, we had a house full of sick kids, and I can’t tell you how much that sentiment rang true. Thankfully my oldest two only had colds. The typical runny noses, sore throats, hacking coughs… you get the idea. My poor little guy though, he had it the worst.  Just after we went to bed on Saturday night, we woke up to him throwing up in his crib. Is there anything worse than when your baby is sick? Let me answer that. No, there absolutely is not. Needless to say, it was a pretty rough night for us, and a tough weekend overall. In the midst of it all, and while I wasn’t sleeping a wink, I started thinking about how glad I was to have an overabundance of certain items on hand in situations like these. When it’s winter, and it’s cold, and you haven’t slept because you’ve been taking care of sick babies, the last thing you want to do is leave the house to run to the store. So, today, I’m rounding up the top three things (that I think) you should always have on hand (and be stocked up on) when you have a baby. Mostly because I wish that someone had told me these things back in the day, and now I know from experience.

1. Diapers and Wipes

This is a given! If you have a baby or a toddler in the house, you NEVER, ever want to run out of diapers and wipes. Besides food, these might be two of the biggest essentials to have on hand. To ensure that you won’t ever be without both of these things, I totally suggest ordering/buying more than what you need, so that you always have enough in the house. It never hurts to have too many diapers or wipes, but it most definitely will if you run out. I tend to order stuff like this online, versus buying them in-store. For me, it’s so much easier to have heavy boxes delivered right to our door, rather than having to worry about carrying them, and loading to them into my car while also wrangling my kids… however, if shopping in stores is your jam, then by all means, be sure to load up your cart!

2. Bedding & Blankets

Not only does having an overabundance of crib sheets and blankets cut down on how often you might have to do laundry, but it also comes in super handy when you’re in a situation like we were this weekend. Kids get sick, and they also have accidents. It’s a given.  You don’t want to be caught in a situation where you have to strip their bedding to wash it, and you don’t have any back-up bedding. One of my go-to brands for baby bedding is the Parent’s Choice line from Walmart. Parent’s Choice offers a wide array of style options when it comes to baby bedding and blankets, at an amazing price point. All of their items (including formula, diapers, wipes and more) are under $40, but most of them are less than $13, which makes it easy to stock up on all of our favorite prints and designs to create a beautiful nursery, at a fraction of the price. My favorite part of the line is that most of the prints are mix and match, so I can get creative with how I coordinate the boy’s decor, since they share a bedroom. Their bedding is amazingly soft and super high quality, and knowing that the line has been around for nearly twenty years, means that it’s a brand that I can trust.

3. Formula & Baby Food/Snacks

By far the most essential item out there for babies. They need to eat, and you need to feed them, so why not stock up on formula and or baby food to ensure that you always have either on hand. From formula, to pouches and purees, to those little snacks babies seem to love so much, I like to keep my pantry stocked with these items. To help me keep inventory, I even like to keep our baby food organized in its own basket in our pantry, so as soon as our stock pile starts to get low, I know that it’s time to get more.

What is one baby item that you are always sure to have on hand and that you can’t live without?

Yes, yes, yes! Another thing I would add is pacifiers. Those things seemed to get left everywhere we go!

I’m sure my sisters would agree with you. They’ve both recently had babies and are already in needles of extras for everything! Btw, your little one is adorable!

I am a fan of the Parent’s Choice line at Walmart, as well! The affordability of the line is great for young families. I agree with having extra bedding.. I am constantly washing sheets, bedding & little blankets these days!
