Frozen Banana Yogurt Pops | A Yummy Treat for Picky Toddlers

April 2, 2018 by Jessica 2 Comments

I wish that I could tell you guys that my kids were great eaters, but if I said that, I would totally be lying. Despite my best efforts, my older kids can be a bit picky at times, and unfortunately my youngest, who is almost two, has started to pick up on that. For the most part, he still likes a lot of fruits and vegetables, but as soon as he realizes that his older brother or sister doesn’t like a particular food, he turns up his nose and wants nothing to do with it anymore. The struggle is real on this one.

Over the years, I have learned that I need to be creative to get my kids to eat certain foods. I have found ways to be sneaky about adding healthy foods into meals that they love, and how to turn something that they don’t think that they like into something that they do. Now that Spring is finally here, and warmer weather is just around the corner, I came up with a refreshingly cool and healthy treat that my kids have no idea is good for them, and that my toddler totally loves. These frozen banana yogurt pops are such a cinch to make, and to be completely honest, I secretly enjoy them too.

They are a great way to use up those bananas that are on their way to being too ripe, and thanks to the addition of Happy Tot Whole Milk Yogurt there’s a great does of protein and calcium too. This yogurt from Happy Family® is a favorite in our house. It’s available for both babies and toddlers, and both varieties are organic, non-GMO, made without persistent pesticides or artificial flavors, and contain no added colors or sweeteners, which makes for a product that I can feel good about feeding to my kids. Both Happy Baby and Happy Tot Yogurts are full of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and they contain probiotics to help encourage a healthy gut from early on.

Here’s what you need to make the frozen banana yogurt pops:

Bananas

Happy Tot Whole Milk Yogurt, in your toddler’s favorite flavor (ours is the Strawberry, Banana, Oats & Chia)

Sprinkles

Popsicle sticks

Parchment Paper

To assemble the pops:

  1. Peel each banana, and cut in half.
  2. Insert a popsicle stick into each half.
  3. Place the Happy Tot Yogurt into a bowl (I used 2 cups to make 5 banana pops).
  4. Dip each banana half into the yogurt, using a spoon to make sure that they are all well coated.
  5. Over a separate bowl, add some sprinkles.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined plate or baking sheet (make sure that it will fit in your freezer).
  7. Freeze for at least 2 hours.
  8. Watch your toddler gobble them up!
