I have to be totally honest. I was a little nervous about school being out for the summer, and taking on the task of having all four of my kids home full-time by myself. Not that having three at home this spring was easy by any stretch, but I knew that having Max home too for the next couple of months would only add to our busy lifestyle and the craziness. My kids are your typical kids. They get bored easily, and they almost always want to be doing something, and that means that I need to constantly be prepared with stuff up my sleeve to keep them active and entertained. Even though this season of life is exhausting and tough at times, there is nothing that I love more than spending quality time with my babies. They’re growing faster than I can wrap my head around, so living in the moment and soaking it all in is really important to me. Max is heading off to first grade in the fall, and Ella will be off to preschool, so having them home from school for the summer is my opportunity to really savor the time with them. To be hands-on. To make memories that will last a lifetime.
This summer we’re making a big effort to break free of any sort of routine, and make more time to play. That’s what summer is all about, after all. One of our favorite things to do is explore new parks and playgrounds in our area. These kids are active. They have a lot of energy to burn and I need to be able to keep up.
