Five Ways to Create a Happy Cozy Home

December 14, 2018 by Jessica Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Febreze but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

One of my biggest hopes and goals for our home is that it will always be a happy and cozy place, where not only our family loves to be, but where even guests feel welcome and comfortable. I never want our house to feel stuffy or for people to feel like they can’t make themselves at home here, but rather that they feel like they can curl up on our sofa and stay for awhile.

Today I’m sharing five of my favorite ways to make your home a happy and cozy place where everyone will want to be.

1. You can never have too many throw pillows and blankets!

I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many throw pillows and blankets. Pillows make sofas and chairs feel and look extra soft and cozy and they’re a perfect touch of decor that can easily be changed out with the season or your color preferences. Having blankets folded in baskets and casually thrown over an ottoman or the back of a chair, makes them easily accessible when people want to snuggle up and watch a movie or read a book.

2. Use books as decor and stack magazines on end tables.

Which brings me to my next tip. I love buying pretty coffee table books or books on popular general topics such as home decor, travel, food, etc. They’re great for decorating and filling bookcases, or for placing on tables throughout your home. Magazines are also a good option. I love stacking them on end tables and swapping them out with the seasons. Is there anything cozier than curling up in an oversized chair with a cozy blanket and a good book or magazine?

3. Use Febreze Plugs to create an ambiance and keep your home smelling fresh year-round.

It’s hard to have a happy and cozy home, when it doesn’t smell fresh. I love using Febreze Plugs throughout our home to create the perfect ambiance and keep each room smelling fresh. Febreze scents have 30% more oils than other plugs*, and last for 45 days (up to 1200 hours**) without the need to spray or spritz. You simply plug them in, and they get to work without just masking odors but actually cleaning them away. With scents like Mediterranean Lavender, Linen & Sky, and Hawaiian Aloha, there’s something for every taste and mood. We purchased ours at Sam’s Club, where they’re being offered for a limited time, so we won’t have to worry about running out anytime soon (their package will last 6 months!), and we saved money.

4. House plants and floral arrangements.

I have to be honest, I used to be a total black thumb and only buy faux plants, but this last year, I’ve really been lucky in the plant department. Everything I have bought is thriving, and I love the way all of the greenery looks throughout our home. I stick to a combination of both real and faux plants, because there are places in our house that don’t get great light, but where I still like using plants as decor. Place your plants in baskets or pretty pots for an added touch of happiness in your home.

5. Always keep your home stocked with essentials like toiletries and paper products.

I always buy items that we use all the time, like toiletries and paper products at Sam’s Club or through online subscriptions to ensure that we never run out of something that’s an absolute necessity. I can’t think of anything less happy or cozy than running out of toilet paper!

I hope these tips will help you to create a welcoming and comfortable environment in your own home. Don’t forget to look for Febreze Plugs at your local Sam’s Club to keep your home odor-free and smelling fresh.

What’s your favorite way to make your home feel cozy?
